  • 100% worth the long wait on the weekends. Coulis does a great job of accommodating dietary restrictions and serves up piping hot plates of deliciousness. I got Huevos Rancheros and sometimes still dream about them....

  • One of the best breakfast meals I've had. The eggs were poached perfectly, the hollandaise was excellent, the debris was moist, and the sweet corn cakes were delicious. What a wonderful place!

  • My only regret was not trying it sooner. I got it to-go but the woman behind the bar was very friendly for the short period I was there. I got the Eggs Creole and it was great.

    - the egg creole is one of my favs, I could eat a tub full of their gravy and grtiz
    - huevos rancheros
    - perfect place for the hangover cure if you want food with eggy goodness.

    Cons
    - none that I can think of

    - just get the hash browns, I totally should've since all the other food was so good

-The street parking (during the holidays) was kind of confusing so pay the meters to be on the safe side.

  • Sensational.

Our waitress was really cool and joked around with us.

    BYOV.

They do not serve Bloody Mary's here but you can walk across the street (or bring your own) and they will make you VERY STRONG Bloody Marys... I was definitely feelin' it when I walked out of dere...

    The brunch was terrific also.

I had the corn-beef-hash thang and it was awesome. And, I also had the french toast, and that was really good too.

Typically, I order very boring breakfasts'... so when I stray, and actually enjoy the stray, it's a really good sign.

This will be on the list.

  • With respect to everyone, I have to say that this place is a now a holy place for me should I visit New Orleans again (I know I will). It is charming, a place you can call your own. Friendliest staff who seem happy to see you and feed you AMAZING things.

Located in the Garden District, it's honestly where people who know go. A friend had read it in a reputable foodie magazine to try out, sorry I can't think of the name right now. This place is not pretending to be something its not, what it is, is a delicious place to come and savor.

We had to taxi over to this place and then arranged for the driver to pick us up after we were done. We raved about it so much that it peaked his interest. We arranged to have him take us the airport 3 days later, and after we thanked him and said our goodbyes, he said he was headed over to Coulis for the Egg Benecio.

I would give this place a 6th star just for those two words - Egg Benicio (aka Eggs Benedict)

    Love you, miss you!

  • Washington, DcMy friends and I were visiting New Orleans for a service trip and wanted to try out a local brunch place and this came up on Yelp as very positively reviewed. We were staying in Chalmette, so the drive was a bit long but the food was well worth it. There was street parking (free and metered options) nearby, which was convenient.

When we arrived, the restaurant was already packed, but luckily we were seated within a few minutes. In total, we ordered the pumpkin spice pancakes (one order definitely serves 2 people), cheese grits, freshly squeezed orange juice and grapefruit juice, and eggs creole, which were all scrumptious, hot, and fresh.

The service was quick despite the busyness of the restaurant, and the waitstaff was friendly and attentive.

Great place for brunch! Definitely worth a visit if you are (or even if you are not) visiting the Touro neighborhood!

  • So so good! The specials were shrimp and grits and a banana fosters French toast. We ordered both and was so happy we did. The grits were so creamy and perfectly salted. The shrimp had delicious seasoning and it was perfect on the toast points. The French toast wasn't overly sweet so the wonderful banana and French bread flavor shone though. Service was great and so helpful giving us directions to get around the Garden district. This is definitely on my Must list for the next trip back to New Orleans.

  • I'm giving this place five stars because I've never been as satisfied off of one pancake, ever and they have the best hashbrowns I've ever had.

Everyone says the pancakes are big, so I expected an overwhelmingly large pancake. It wasn't that big. You can get as many toppings as you want with no additional charge, which is great. That might add to why I was so full. Strawberries, blueberries, chocolate chips and pecans. The whipped cream smiley face was a nice touch :)

On to the hashbrowns. They're medallion-cut, which is something I've never really seen before in a hashbrown. Topped with green onions, they were delicious. I liked that I could eat them with my hands and I didn't need ketchup or anything. My goodness, thinking about them is making me hungry.

Very good food, very reasonable prices. Also, the wait staff was amazingly nice.

  • "Waited in line outside for about ten minutes before we were seated. No biggie, preferred to wait outside as there isn't really any extra space inside.

Before we even got the menu the "hash browns" which are thin slices of fried potatoes, caught out eye and we ordered a plate, definitely get a side! We decided to split the ultimate French toast and that with the potatoes was the right amount of food for two people.

It was absolutely delicious, French toast stuffed with cream cheese, topped with smoked sausage and caramelized pecans and apples. It also comes with whipped cream but we got it on the side, it all came out to $15 for two people!"

  • Normally I wait to review a new place until I have been there a few times. Sometimes, though, if the experience blows me away, I do so right away. This, my friends, is the case with Coulis.

Backstory-breakfast is my favorite meal. I can eat eggs over easy and bacon for every single meal every single day and be very, very happy doing so. Now that you know this about me let me also say that lately I have been to many breakfast spots in the fine city of Nola and mostly I've walked away saying "ehh". Don't get me wrong here...there are some great breakfast spots here...but I want to be BLOWN AWAY. And I haven't been. Until Coulis.

This unassuming restaurant served me the best breakfast ever and has earned a lifelong customer (moi) here's why:

Eggs over easy- just that. All too often I'll ask for my eggs over easy and get ummm....something else. Yolks hardened or whites undercooked. Hello? Eggs over easy means whites cooked all the way through and the yolks still soft and yummy and ready for some toast to be dipped in them and devoured. Am I right?! They do eggs over easy soooo good and soooo right here.

Hash browns! Man. Coulis has the BEST hash browns EVER. I know that's a big claim but I stand behind it. They aren't chunks of potatoes and they aren't shredded potatoes. The hash browns here are thinly sliced potatoes with amazing and freaking delicious sautéed onions thrown in the mix as well as a sprinkling of green onions topping them. I'll pause so you can read that again.

    Yeah. They are fantastic.

Service- my waitresses (yes that is plural) were the female versions of Cheech and Chong. I was waiting for one of them to say "yeahhhhh, man" when I asked for more napkins. They were efficient and friendly and totally New Orleans.

I love it here and really can't wait to go back!
